課程概述

Simultaneous interpretation is a special skill. The interpreter listens for the message of the source language. While concentrating on understanding the source language message, the interpreter conveys the preceding passage in the target language. All the while the interpreter also has to concentrate on conveying the message stylistically and grammatically, and continue to listen for the next message of the source language. The multi-tasking involved in simultaneous interpretation is not a natural skill, and has to be learned. 

課程目標
In this class, students will be introduced to the different tasks (i. e. multi-tasking, shadowing, distancing, abstracting, anticipating, etc.) that integrate into the simultaneous interpretation mode. The tasks will be isolated and introduced to the students in a step-by-step manner. When multi-tasking becomes effortless, and the tasks have been mastered, the integration of the different tasks will commence.

Diligent classroom attendance is crucial since the skills must be acquired through practice and monitored by the instructor.
